SIMON JAIN (Canada)
Simon Jain has always held a certain presence in a room. His demeanor and persona often replicate in detail his music style; wild, brooding, seemingly out of control, yet subtly contained in the right places. He is known for an exuberance and charisma behind the dex held by few, and consistently displayed by even fewer. Make no mistake however; he can quickly back up his antics with savvy programming and a keen ear and eye for the dance floor. Being submerged in musical culture at an early age, by very progressive parents who insisted he be musically versed, Simon understood the root of electronic culture long before the lights, lasers and speaker stacks emerged in front of him. In 2001 having transplanted himself in Toronto via the London (Ont.) rave scene, he had landed a residency at the coveted underground Film Lounge by 2003, and by 2005 was playing to larger rooms, and of course, larger praise. Having held residencies with Boa-Redux, The Guvernment and the esteemed Comfort Zone, Simon turns his eyes to the horizon, dead-set on what lies ahead as he looks to achieve a more global direction.Already slated to grace the dex in dozens of North American cities and electronic festivals, with a slew of productions in the works, Simon is setting his focus squarely on getting his no-holds-bar attitude to the dance floors across the world; after all, why should they be denied the Jainism experience?
